There is a New Villain in Town - Called the Palladium Virus

Your screen may look like this...

and then it might look like this...

Contact the Terminator of Proven Solutions  to remove this Virus today.

"The Only Way You can Hurt the Body is Not Use It"

Wow! What marketing. He was so ahead of his time.
Read this obituary in the Globe and Mail today to find out Who said that quote.
He passed away at the age of 96.
He lived by his words of wisdom (once a sugar junkie).
His longevity is Proof that he might be right!

On that note...
It has finally warmed up enough in Toronto today to go for a walk.

What is that?

Pole dancing....

Quite the Contrast from The Toronto Winter

My friend from California took her poodles here (in the San Joaquin Valley) yesterday.
She used the same camera model that she bought for me as a gift.
The little one is her new parti-poodle puppy.

You have to see that face!
This was my ulterior motive....to really show you this puppy's face.
Way Too Cute......

Red Cardinal calling out his song

This morning I heard the first bird call out at 5:20am in Toronto.
I know this to be true because I was already awake.
Have you ever looked at your clock when you hear the first bird sound.
What time is the earliest you have heard them sing in the TIME CHANGE?

My View of The Day

He is more than just a Computer Geek...
He did use the SNOWBLOWER to move the BIG STUFF.

tongue and cheek

This gave us a little giggle....
but actually in all honesty..........
I am very impressed that He was able to accomplish this.
His voice is not all that bad..........

I have been trying to make Proven Solutions Inc. viral...like this Boy.
Where do you think I am going wrong?
Maybe I should make a video of The Man from the Office at work on his Computers.

Hmmmmm The Terminator sings too, you know........
Should I put up a video of him singing on You Tube?

Children's Day - Thailand

Hi everyone,

This is  " The Terminator's" Son residing and reporting from Thailand.

For my first post, I'd like to show you a photo from Children's Day. Our motorcycle club went on a charity ride to a rural school where we donated money to help with school supplies. My favorite part of the day was when the kids got a chance to take pictures on some of our bikes. As you can see they had a blast!

Stay tuned for more from the Land of Smiles - Thailand.

My View of The Day

It doesn't always have to be a blue day.....
Nothing like a touch of red to brighten up a dull day.

Tangled up in Blue

View above the office
I admit I might have been wrong about this new nikon Camera...
..... not getting the blues blue enough
This sky is Deep Deep Deep Deep Rich Rich Rich Blue Blue Blue Blue
I took this today with the new nikon camera.
This camera gets it!
Thank you again California Friend.....
By the way......I didn't notice the plane in the sky......when snapping this shot.

My View of The Day

Mourning doves always look like they are in mourning.
It really is the perfect name for this one. There was only one in view.

Golden

New Finch Feeder...New Camera....New Year...

Cardinal Couple Caught together in the Naked Tree

My Friend from California..thought I should have a camera on me at all times.
She was so insistent on it, that she sent me a surprise gift in the mail the other day.
It was a new nikon camera coolpix L22.
She claims she did it because she is enjoying my photography so much
and it was for totally selfish reasons.
I just took it out of the box today and gave it a try.
I am really having fun with it!!!!!
It has many settings that are easy to find and use.
I am really enjoying the clarity it gives so far.
All the pictures are in focus so far.
The cannon powershot gives both of us trouble that way.
but....I am not sure that it will capture the brilliant technicolour that the cannon
can produce, but we will see......
I may alternate, but now there will always be a camera in the office,
unless I take both of them with me............

SNOW DAY

Remains from the Summer can still be lovely in the Winter

How to easily convert a TEXT FILE to a JPG FILE -too easy!!

I was in a serious quandary as to how to convert this ad
which was originally done in word as a text file to a jpg file
so I could crop it out and show it to you here in this post.

After great deliberation,
I figured it was impossible to do unless I started all over again and recreated the ad in PAINT.

I asked the Man from the Office for a solution,
expecting he would not have one.......but he did!!!!!!!!!!

and I could have KICKED myself that I didn't think of that
(since the solution uses a trick/tip I had learned).
This is why the Man from the Office impresses me sometimes.
He can easily see answers that are computer related that go right by me,
even if the answer is right in front of me.
(notice I said..that he sees answers easily that are computer related)

So, this is what you do...you open your text file and have it on the screen,
and then select the print scrn key.
This takes a copy of what is on the screen.

You open paint, or other type of program that saves files as jpgs....and paste the screen shot there by selecting the ctrl key and v key.
and voila,,,there it is in paint to do what you want with....and you can save it as a jpg file
or whatever other picture type files you choose.

You can also go about taking a snap shot of your screen using the snipping tool in Windows 7,
which I discussed briefly in this post here demonstrating it in an amusing way.

If you would like a more serious and detailed take on the snipping tool vs. the screen shot....visit here

Who is the Man behind Wikipedia?

Wikipedia is truly one of my favourite sites... oh for so many reasons....

The founder (dispute -of course-if he is one of the co-founders) of this site was a son of a teacher and a grocery store manager...
This is a fascinating  read...from The Globe and Mail today.

Is this simple enough?

This ad is in the classified section of The Post
which is delivered throughout 7 areas of The GTA (Greater Toronto Area)

This Tree reminds me of a groomed Show Poodle

Does it remind you more of that movie
 ....??????????????????????????????

The story of the Day

This was from Facts and Arguments in the Globe and Mail today...
If you have been touched by an animal, (a cat perhaps and didn't expect it)
this will touch your heart too!

My View of The Day

I would like to see this from the office window right now
.....
but we see something like this......
There is beauty and calm in this untouched bleakness of winter in Toronto

Lack of bird action...

The bird action is very quiet in our backyard right now........

We would really like to find

this critter.

Has anyone seen this gem (the colour of snow) in Toronto?

It might be a New Year

but some things just get better with age........
and don't need a New Year's resolution to clean up.

My View of The Day

                                                                     Doesn't this feel like summer?
These are the berries on a Juniper Tree.
This was shot in the winter......

This is a day in the winter when
when the Cedar Waxwings were visiting.

My View of The Dawn

Just Me and My Camera

went for a walk before dawn.

We took the Road less travelled.
I
I wanted to look for things to take a picture of...
that normally would be ignored by my naked eye,
like the whispiness of these branches covered in the morning snowfall.

That Cut came from here.
this discarded Christmas tree

disclaimer:
It is really the office camera, and there are no footsteps on the road, because no one was awake yet!

Would this Rose make it to your dried flower collection?
This rose bloom seems naturally preserved...
found on a rose shrub outside the office in Jan 2011.

My View Of The Day

I am dreaming of green.......this time of year

Dance of the Cedar Waxwings

In this video (not mine), you can really get a good look at the lovely cedar waxwings' features, such as the red tipped wings that were not visible on any of the photos or videos that I took,
but I was able to see them with my naked eye.

Does this look like a Dodo Bird to you?

Last night, we took a walk without the camera. The Man from the Office had my full attention. He was telling me how he was thinking about something which led him to search for the Island of Mauritus  in wikipedia and how that led him to a link to the DODO Bird. You see, he found out that this Island was the only home of the DODO bird. He was so animated in telling me all about what he found out about the DODO bird.........

I had only vague memories of what I had learned about the DODO BIRD in school. His enthusiasm prompted  me to look it up when we got back to the office, mainly because I wanted to see what it looked like again. (He had really covered almost every detail that wikipedia offered but with so much more excitement in his delivery.)  It became extinct so long ago, so there are no true photos of it, but only drawings and 3-d representations.
I was searching through some photos I had taken recently for another reason,
 and came across this.
It struck me that it reminded me of a DODO BIRD for some reason,
so I thought I would post this.
Did you know that Dodo Birds are related to pigeons and doves?

My View of The Day

It is still very drab and even colder outside today than yesterday.
What canopy of leaves feels more enchanted to you,
Yesterday or Today's view of The day?
I like them both so much..I couldn't choose only one of them.

Cold-FX really makes a difference!

I found myself picking up a Sunday Star today, and read a full two page
article about Ginseng. I am sure there is something to it.

If you are curious and open minded about alternative medicine, this is an interesting read.
If you have been closed minded, you might reconsider.....

My View of The Day

It was actually such a drab day today,
that there was nothing inspiring to photograph to start off the New Year,
so I selected this canopy of green with the sun shining through.........
which is what I wish the View of the Day really looked like.
This is from High Park in the late summer this past year.
We were planning to go here today,
but it was just too Drab and Damp out to get motivated.
