3rd installment on the bulb planting saga -if anyone cares..

I kind of had a little mini melt down, and was ready to throw everything out, upon seeing and confirming that most of the tulip bulbs were history.

But I had this blog that I just started and I had

already posted how I was going outside on that beautiful day 
to plant these things.......

I thought I should do the mature thing and be accountable to the ENTIRE UNIVERSE

that may land on this page one day (you realize this is humour)

so I calmed down and seriously analyzed my losses.

I went back outside to face my humiliation, and realized that the Iris bulbs,

Crocus bulbs, and alum bulbs did seem relatively okay.
I guess they have a higher tolerance to damp  conditions.
Some tulip bulbs seemed firmer  than others and some had just a little bit of green mould so I wiped it off as suggested by all my google searches.

 I just decided to plant most of them anyway, and see what happens.

There is a particular feature In the Globe and Mail that sometimes hits the 
"Very Emotional Spot" in me, and can literally trigger tears. 
They are short personal stories under the column Facts & Arguments 
labeled The Essay, on the last page of the Life section.
Here is an example of one that really touched me.

I am having so much FUN on my WINDOWS 7 DESKTOP

I right clicked on my desktop the other day

and found some gadgets to play with!

I chose the round analog clock with numbers on it!
I like to be aware of the time since it gets away from me when I am concentrating on the computer doing silly things like this and professional work!


I have the weather forecast of the day for Toronto.
I don't mind sitting here when I see grey in the forecast, but I certainly get antsy when it shows a bright yellow sun.


I put up a calendar too with the date and the month at a glance.
This is so handy to have on hand. Sometimes you just forget what day you are on.
One just gets so focused on other things sometimes.

I can even have a slide show of photos I have picked out.
It can be fun to see different ones every time you look at your desktop

If I want a change of scenery, I can choose a different picture for my background.
I am a visual person. You may have gathered that by now!


OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOps I forgot to tell you about my sticky notes.
They are better than the real thing!
You can find those by clicking on the start button.
You can make them different colours. 
They grow as your list grows and
you can add as many of them as you want.
 It isn't the most professional way to lists your tasks, but it might be all you need!

Here, I can actually show you part of my desktop using the snipping tool.
This allows you to take snapshots of your screen.

Since it is the final days of that window to plant your bulbs,

I have been thinking that I should get back to telling that story....

I had some time last night to continue writing about the saga of my
 bulb planting experience.

The I.T. Man was working on something serious.

Ahhh the Birch tree, maybe common enough in Toronto,

but there is something about that  "so white"  bark and their leaves that

catches my attention almost every time.

It was the focus of  "The Group of Seven" in many paintings too.

led me to post something about this article I read today in The Globe and Mail.

 Public hangs up on the printed phone books

The link above also takes you to a YouTube video about the Yellow Page Mountain campaign.
They claim that no one really uses the yellow pages anymore
in this era of google and they should not be delivered at all.

Well ...actually,
I still look in the yellow pages, (though not quite as often as I used to).
I am not ready to say NO to them yet completely.

I strongly agree with the first commenter on their site.
(Yes there were 189 comments left here, so lots of back and forth.)
that it would be a good idea to check off the option to have them delivered.
This would certainly be a good compromise in my opinion.
